Show & Tell Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign in. Your email address, which we use to send you a sign-in link. We don't use passwords.

When you submit a project. Your name, your project's name and description, and any links you include.

When you vote. Which submissions you upvoted.

Email preferences. Whether you've chosen to receive the Bookmark newsletter or emails from Bamboo Grand Rapids.

Site analytics. We use Fathom Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or collect personal information. It tells us things like page views and referring sites in aggregate.

Technical data. Our hosting provider may log basic request information such as IP address and browser type for security and troubleshooting. We use cookies only to keep you signed in.

What's public

Your name and project links appear on the board when you submit. Vote totals are public, but we don't show who voted for what.

How we use your information

We use it to run the board, send sign-in links and event-related emails (such as confirmations and reminders), and contact submitters about presenting. Event-related emails are separate from any newsletter.

We also use combined, anonymized information, such as project details and voting trends, in research published in the Bookmark newsletter. Research never identifies you by name or shows how you voted without your permission.

Newsletters

When you sign up, a box to receive the Bookmark newsletter is checked by default. You can uncheck it before signing up, and you can unsubscribe from any newsletter email at any time. Choosing not to receive the newsletter doesn't affect your ability to vote or submit.

A separate box to receive emails from Bamboo Grand Rapids is also checked by default, and you can uncheck it the same way. If you leave it checked, we may share your email address (and your name, if you've added one) with Bamboo so they can send you updates.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Bamboo Grand Rapids, if you opt in to their emails. Once shared, questions about how Bamboo uses that information should go to Bamboo directly. (Links to book a tour or host an event go to Bamboo's own site and scheduling tools, so anything you enter there goes straight to Bamboo.)
• Service providers that help us run the site: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Resend (sign-in and event emails), Kit (Bookmark newsletter), and Fathom Analytics.
• Authorities, if required by law.

Events

We may take photos or record presentations at Show & Tell events and share them online or in the Bookmark newsletter. Presenters will be told in advance. If you'd rather not appear, let us know at the event or email us.

How we keep it

We keep your account and submissions until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to run Show & Tell. You can request deletion at any time by emailing hello@followbookmark.com.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information by emailing hello@followbookmark.com. Deleting your account removes your submissions and votes from the board.

Age

Show & Tell is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let signed-up users know by email.
